Bumpdate: Week 4

Obviously I'm just barely pregnant, but I want to document the whole thing. I did with Paige & it is the best looking back through. So I'm starting early, but don't worry-- I won't do every week. Mostly it's the same from week to week, so I'll just post milestones.

How far along?   4 weeks!

Total weight gain? I never really weigh myself, but I did this morning as a starting point! So we'll just say none for now.

Maternity clothes? I did pull them out of storage, but I don't think I have any real use for them yet. And I have quite a few things to get back from my sister when she's done using them in a few months.

Sleep? ALWAYS. I can't stop. I usually take a 3 hour nap a day (when Paige takes her nap), and then sleep about 10 hours a night.

Best moment this week? Finding out I was pregnant! Finally, hallelujah! (Pregnancy tests are the worst. I was so nervous/anxious/shaking the WHOLE TIME)

Worst moment this week? Probably when I was craving chili so incredibly bad but couldn't run out & grab any since Jeff was gone for the day and Paige was asleep so I ended up crying for an hour ha!

Have you told family and friends? We've told Jeff's mom, my sister, & I slipped it to my neighbor, but no one else yet. Jeff's siblings will be here this weekend & we'll tell them then, I'll tell my other sister when she takes me to the airport, and I'm going to visit/stay with my family in a few days, so I'll tell them then! Plus, it doesn't really help that they're out of the country currently.

Miss anything? Not looking bloated! Haha it's so weird. I didn't really "show" with Paige until about 20 weeks but I feel like I've already popped! I know you show earlier the second time around but whoa. So loose clothing for now!

Movement: None. But so looking forward to it!

Food craving/aversions? I was super craving saltwater taffy the other day. We went out and bought some and I ate the whole bag in one sitting. There's going to be some definite weight gain this time around!

Have you started to show yet? Just looking bloated... if that's considered showing.

Gender?
We don't know! And I don't know if I want to know this time around. I think it would be fun to wait, but I'll probably give in.

Symptoms: Exhaustion, for real. And I spend a lot of the day either starving or feeling like I'm going to throw up.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Jeff has been asking me to make cookies for weeks, but I was so sick and tired of the same old "back of the chocolate chip bag" cookie. So of course I scoured the internet trying to find the best chocolate chip cookie recipe.

And I found it.

(Seriously we made 40 of them last night at like 9 pm and by midnight they were all gone, so...) But we do have to thank our neighbors for taking a few off our hands so we didn't wake up 80 lbs heavier ;)

Here ya go! (And if you're thinking of only using the butter or only using the shortening, you're doing it wrong. Use both, or don't bother!)

original recipe post HERE

Ingredients:

1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup shortening (splurge, and get crisco sticks)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 scant teaspoon salt
chocolate chips (so many, guys! use so many!)
flaky sea salt

Directions:

preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit
cream together butter, shortening, sugars, vanilla and egg until fluffy
add sifted dry ingredients (minus sea salt) and mix till combined
fold in chocolate chips and drop by spoon onto greased cookie sheet
sprinkle with sea salt before baking
bake at 350 for 6-10 minutes
