Chocolate Chip Cookies

Jeff has been asking me to make cookies for weeks, but I was so sick and tired of the same old "back of the chocolate chip bag" cookie. So of course I scoured the internet trying to find the best chocolate chip cookie recipe.

And I found it.

(Seriously we made 40 of them last night at like 9 pm and by midnight they were all gone, so...) But we do have to thank our neighbors for taking a few off our hands so we didn't wake up 80 lbs heavier ;)

Here ya go! (And if you're thinking of only using the butter or only using the shortening, you're doing it wrong. Use both, or don't bother!)

original recipe post HERE

Ingredients:

1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup shortening (splurge, and get crisco sticks)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 scant teaspoon salt
chocolate chips (so many, guys! use so many!)
flaky sea salt

Directions:

preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit
cream together butter, shortening, sugars, vanilla and egg until fluffy
add sifted dry ingredients (minus sea salt) and mix till combined
fold in chocolate chips and drop by spoon onto greased cookie sheet
sprinkle with sea salt before baking
bake at 350 for 6-10 minutes
